What is Six sigma and SWOT Analysis


Intentionally or unintentionally we heard about sigma. When we read in any journals or newspaper about six sigma , we always think about sigma. If you were not a science student, then this word is always unknown to you. Let me explain – Sigma is actually used to denote the standard deviation in statistics or mathematical calculation. Sigma is actually a greek word. More sigmas means more precision. In short, Sigma is a statistical measure of the quality consistency for a particular process / product.Six sigma was initially implemented by motorola company in their television picture tube manufacturing company and Motorola really set a benchmark for other and now many companies following the path shown by Motorola.For an ordinary man, a company have more sigmas level means more quality product. So, six sigma approach is to get more and more specified and précised product by applying latest technology and taking the best results from the available resources.In six sigma level company only 3.4 PPM ( Parts Per Million) defects is allowed.
SWOT is the abbreviation for Strength – Weakness – Opportunities – Threats. SWOT analysis gives you the ground level reality to any company that what are the strengths of the company , what are the weakness in which they can improve and The possible opportunities in which they can entered and threats are the possible dangerous which can be avoided before to face a serious situation. SWOT analysis is not only applicable to firms/enterprises but it can also be used in an individual level. Every individual can have some Strengths- weaknesses-Threats-opportunities and by making a SWOT chart, anyone can check the exact position of his/her own.So, before plunge into a new venture or before starting a career , do your SWOT analysis and then decide you fate. For those who are already planned their career, they can also do the SWOT and then decide that they are in the right boat or not.Success comes only after when you know about your born qualities. Match with them in your current career and don’t do hesitation to step out if you feel you are in a wrong boat.
